EMULSIFIABLE POLYETHYLENE WAX
SAVOX BW 300 is an Emulsifiable Polyethylene Wax available in off-white flake form. Using appropriate Surfactant / Emulsifier, Savox BW 300 can easily be converted to Transparent / Translucent / Milky White emulsion containing 20 - 50 % solids or as required by the end user.

Applications of Emulsions obtained from Savox BW 300 are as follows: -

  1. Textile Finishing to enhance stitching properties of the fabric.
  2. Yarn Sizing
  3. Leather Finishing mainly as a plate release agent, Pull-up and Crunch wax.
  4. Shoe Polish, Car Polish, Floor Polish
  5. Paper Sizing
  6. Water based Paints and Printing Inks to get excellent rub & scratch resistance.
  7. Wood stains, Wood Coating
Application of Savox BW 300 in flakes form:
  1. As a lubricant in rigid PVC processing, One pack stabilizers for PVC Compound.
  2. As a pigment-dispersing agent in Polyethylene Master batches.

EMULSION PREPARATION PROCEDURES:
FOR 25 % MILKY WHITE EMULSIONFOR 25% TRANSPARENT EMULSION
Savox BW-300     21 gm                  16 gm
NP 9.5                    4 gm                    9 gm
KOH                    0.4 gm                 0.4 gm
Water                    1 gm                    1 gm
  • Melt SAVOX wax at 120-125°C.
  • Take 75 gm water in separate beaker and start heating to get the temperature upto 95 deg C. Maintain the temperature.
  • Make KOH solution in water. I.e. KOH 0.4 gm + 1 gm water
  • Add KOH solution slowly to molten wax while stirring and adjust pH to 7-8.
  • Add NP-9.5 while stirring maintaining temperature of 120-125°C.
  • Stir well for 10 Minutes.
  • Add this mixture into 75 gm water preheated to 95°C with high speed stirring (>1500 RPM).
  • Maintain temperature 92-95°C. (Slight excess water may be taken initially to account for any water lost due to evaporation.
  • Continue high speed stirring for 15 Minutes at 92-95°C.
  • Cool it to almost ambient temperature and filter and keep in a tightly closed container till use.
Note: - This 25% emulsion can be diluted with water to lower concentrations, if required.
